Sport Specific Training
Utilizing the versatility of Pilates equipment and their extensive movement background, instructors at Agile Monkey are able to work with athletes who want to improve their technique, strength, endurance and overall abilities within their field. We have worked with golfers, swimmers, surfers, skiers, snowboarders, soccer players, tennis players, basketball players, gymnasts, aerialists, and dancers of all disciplines.
The goals and techniques are similar to Pilates-based Rehabilitation, but on the opposite extreme of the fitness spectrum. Usually when an athlete wants to improve their game, they need to address certain habits or limitations many of which they aren’t even aware of. By doing a postural analysis and identifying weak, tight or overactive muscle groups, instructors can create a targeted workout that will compliment their existing training routine, improve their skill-set, promote overall health and reduce the likelihood of future injury.
Client Testimonials
Despite never having ski raced, Lisa summed up the state of my muscle development more concisely in one hour than ten years of intensive sessions with coaches, experts, and alpine skiing physical therapists had accomplished. It is impossible to overstate Lisa's impact on me through her skilled Pilates instruction. For the first time in my life, I learned that building stronger muscles does not have to come at the expense of flexibility! Her insights into my muscle groups led me to focus on changes to areas I had never realized were a problem. I became much more aware of the interplay between muscle groups and I now exercise much more efficiently as a result.”

As a professional Latin ballroom dancer, my competition life is very physically demanding. I started working with Lisa after a debilitating sacroiliac joint injury threatened to put an early end to my career. Her incredible knowledge of the body and emphasis on re-educating dysfunctional outmoded movement patterns proved to be more beneficial that all of the other doctors, physical therapists and specialists that I saw. I am still amazed at how quickly and effectively she taught me how to prevent and manage my pain, while improving my dance abilities at a record pace. I could barely walk to get to my first appointment with Lisa; now I am dancing better and ranking higher than I ever have before!”
